This oak Madonna from QIADGE Studio resurrects that forgotten tradition. Her closed eyes contemplate the Passion foretold at Simeon’s prophecy (Luke 2:35), while the right hand over her heart embodies "treasuring all these things in her heart" (Luke 2:19). The left palm turned outward mirrors Giotto’s Ognissanti Madonna – a gesture of mercy welcoming the devout.

Like the limewood masterpieces of the German Gothic era, her robe cascades in liquid folds – each chisel stroke echoing medieval Draperiewesen (draping art). Carved from sustainably harvested French oak, the wood grain becomes part of the sacred narrative: knots transform into rosary beads, whorls morph into celestial clouds around her sorrowful grace.
